⚠️ This rebate is closed. The TECH Clean California single-family heat pump HVAC market-rate incentive stopped accepting new reservations on January 17, 2025 — funds fully reserved statewide. The Switch Is On finder page for this rebate now reads "Incentive no longer available." The income-qualified HEEHRA single-family track is also fully reserved as of February 24, 2026, with new projects placed on a waitlist only. What you can still try
- Get on the HEEHRA waitlist. If your household is at or below 150% of Area Median Income, ask a TECH-enrolled contractor to submit a reservation. Waitlisted projects get the rebate only if funding reopens AND the heat pump is installed after the reservation is approved. See techcleanca.com/incentives/heehrarebates.
- Federal 25C tax credit. Up to $2,000 off your federal taxes for a qualifying heat pump installed in 2026. You need tax liability to use it. [Source: irs.gov/credits-deductions/energy-efficient-home-improvement-credit (accessed 2026-05-17)]
- Utility rebates. PG&E, SCE, SoCalGas, SDG&E and BayREN/SoCalREN all run their own heat pump rebates — separate from TECH. Ask your contractor or check your utility's site.
- Watch for a new TECH phase. TECH has cycled through multiple funding rounds since 2021. A new single-family HVAC round may open later in 2026, but timing and amounts are not confirmed. Sign up for updates at techcleanca.com.

Historical info (program as it last ran)
When open, this was a contractor-submitted rebate, not a direct homeowner rebate. The contractor pulled the discount off your invoice.
