Who it's for: anyone trying to find out which home internet companies can actually reach their house, which matters a lot in rural Nevada County.
What you get
The CPUC's official California Interactive Broadband Map. It shows the internet providers that report service at an address, and the technology each uses. You can also filter by provider (consumer or business), by technology, and by approved or proposed CASF infrastructure projects.
How to use it
- Go to <https://broadbandmap.ca.gov/>.
- Find Search Providers (by address) and type your street address. A PO Box won't work.
- The map lists the providers that report service at that spot.
- Then call the provider or check its website to confirm. The map's data is as of December 31, 2024, so it can be out of date.
Tip: once you know the providers, check for discounts: California LifeLine now works on home internet with participating providers.
