IBank, the State of California's Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank, backs part of a small business loan. This makes a lender more willing to lend to a business that has had trouble getting credit. Source: IBank Loan Guarantees (accessed 2026-09-28)
Who it's for
- California small businesses with 1–750 employees.
- The lender sets the credit requirements.
- IBank does not consider citizenship or immigration status, as long as the business meets the other criteria.
- Trucking owner-operators are eligible if they are registered as a legal business entity.
How it works
- You apply for a loan with a participating lender.
- One of IBank's seven Financial Development Corporations (FDCs) processes the guarantee. The FDCs also give technical help.
- IBank also runs the California Small Business Disaster Relief Loan Guarantee Program and the Jump Start Loan Program.
