Community Beyond Violence (CBV) is Nevada County's domestic violence and sexual assault agency, based in Grass Valley. They serve survivors of interpersonal violence — partner abuse, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking — and their families. All services are free and confidential.
What they offer
- 24-hour crisis line: (530) 272-3467 — call any time, day or night, for safety planning, emotional support, or to talk through options. No need to be in immediate danger to call.
- Walk-in client services: No appointment needed. The Client Service Center at 1020 McCourtney Road, Suite C, Grass Valley is open weekdays 9am–5pm.
- Emergency shelter and housing case management for people fleeing violence.
- Legal advocacy and court accompaniment: help filing restraining orders, navigating family court, and accompanying clients to hearings.
- Personal advocacy: safety planning, accompaniment to medical exams and police interviews, help connecting to other services.
- Spanish-speaking advocates available.
When to reach out
Call the crisis line if you're not safe, if you're not sure whether what's happening counts as abuse, or if you just need someone to talk it through with. You don't have to be ready to leave — they meet people where they are.
