Who it's for: Nevada County farmers and ranchers. Zero Foodprint's program is for growers of food or beverage products for human consumption.
How it works
- Apply first at zerofoodprint.org/cc-nevada-county. Only compost orders placed after you're approved count.
- Buy at least 5 tons of compost from a Zero Foodprint-approved supplier.
- After Zero Foodprint verifies the compost was delivered and applied, you get a rebate of up to $14 per ton.
Zero Foodprint's general program limits: at most 1,000 tons per rebate claim and $20,000 per year. It converts at 1 ton = 2.5 cubic yards.
Why: most compost suppliers are in the Sacramento Valley, so hauling is expensive. The rebate helps, and it helps the county meet SB 1383's requirement to buy recovered organic products like compost.
