What it is: SCDD, with the Department of Developmental Services and the Human Services Research Institute, interviews adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities about their services using the National Core Indicators (NCI) survey. SCDD is "now accepting applications for Contracted Interviewers." The survey cycle is expected to start in October 2026.
People with I/DD and their family members are encouraged to apply, and bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged.
Pay (from SCDD's position details)
- $120 per completed in-person interview
- $90 per completed remote interview (Zoom Healthcare)
- +$25 per completed non-English survey (bilingual differential, if approved)
- $200 one-time payment after all training requirements are met
Fine print
- Independent contractor, not an SCDD employee: no employee benefits, can't claim unemployment through this contract, and you cover your own equipment, internet and transportation.
- Contract period through June 30, 2027. Assignments depend on project needs, geographic coverage and language needs; no minimum number of interviews is guaranteed.
- You'll be asked to disclose whether you work for or are vendored by a regional center, work for an agency serving regional center consumers, or have family or household ties to regional center or SCDD staff (to spot conflicts of interest).
- Looking for people who are willing to travel, communicate well, are reliable and organized, and comfortable using a computer.
