Who qualifies

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
  • Public libraries (501(c)(3) status, or listed in the IMLS database)

  • Organizations in U.S. territories are not eligible

How to register

  1. Go to techsoup.org and click "Register."
  1. Enter your EIN and basic org info.
  1. Upload or link your IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter (or IMLS listing for libraries).
  1. Wait for validation. This is usually a few business days.
  1. Once approved, you can browse and request products.

Software

Common pitfalls

  • Don't pay retail first. Always check TechSoup before buying any major software. The admin fee is a small fraction of the commercial price.
  • Annual eligibility limits reset. Microsoft, Adobe, and others cap how many licenses you can request per year (often per fiscal year, July–June). Plan ahead.
  • Validation can take a few days. Don't sign up the night before you need a product.
  • Donated products are not for resale or transfer. You can't give them to staff for personal use or sell them off later.
  • U.S. territories are excluded. Puerto Rico, Guam, and others can't use most programs.
