What you get
The Washoe Native TANF Program (WNTP) "provides temporary aid and services to WNTP Native American families with children." Services include career development, education and employment services, youth program services, achievement incentives, and support services.
How to apply
- Call the Washoe Native TANF Program at (888) 612-8263 or (775) 782-6320, or email info@washoetanf.org. Ask which office serves your address.
- CDSS also says you can contact your county social services agency, or call or walk into a Tribal TANF office.
Federal recognition and who qualifies
The first group in the eligibility rule is members or descendants of a federally recognized tribe. The rule also names descendants of the California Judgment Roll and "an American Indian tribal member." The program's page does not say how it treats members of tribes without federal recognition, so call and ask before you count on it. (The Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe is not federally recognized today.)
