Nevada County Alerts is the county's opt-in emergency notification system for wildfires, severe weather and other public-safety emergencies. It replaced CodeRED on April 14, 2026. What you get

  • Opt-in emergency alerts for wildfires, severe weather and other public-safety emergencies. The county also uses Wireless Emergency Alerts to cellphones, EAS on radio and TV, and Hi-Low sirens for evacuation orders.
  • Up to five addresses per phone number or email.

If you were on CodeRED

Nevada County Alerts replaced CodeRED on April 14, 2026. Older CodeRED sign-ups are being migrated, but the county asks residents to register again so that their information is current.

  1. Know Your Zone: look up your evacuation zone. Alerts and evacuation orders are issued by zone.
  1. Pack your go-bag, and a go-bag and kennel for your pets. Pet and livestock owners can also pre-register animals with Sheriff's H.E.A.R.T.
  1. Find Your Five: five trusted allies who will support you during a disaster.
  1. Learn your evacuation options.
Other alerts: Wireless Emergency Alerts reach cellphones by location with no sign-up; during an Evacuation Order officers go door to door and a two-tone Hi-Low siren sounds. The county lists trusted local media at ReadyNevadaCounty.org/Informed.
