Who it's for: community organizations that help PG&E customers sign up for CARE (at least 20% off gas and electric) and FERA (18% off electric). The resident discount itself is in 40% off PG&E CARE and FERA enrollment.
What you get
- Payment for each approved enrollment. PG&E pays COCs monthly, based on the number of approved enrollments. Each organization gets a unique 3-digit agency code, which goes in the white box at the bottom right of every application. PG&E's FAQ does not publish the amount per enrollment, so ask PG&E.
- Training: PG&E trains COC staff on CARE and its other income-qualified programs twice a year, and as needed. Sessions typically last 1–2 hours.
- Materials: printed applications and brochures in English, Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese (plus large print), and online applications in 16 languages.
- The intake form offers to list your locations on PG&E's website.
How to apply
- PG&E's COC FAQ says: submit a request to lowincomeprograms@pge.com, and a PG&E representative will send details and an application.
- PG&E's COC Intake Form (<https://www.pge.com/assets/pge/docs/account/billing-and-assistance/COC_Intake_Form.pdf>) says to send the completed form to CAREandFERA@pge.com. It asks for your locations, a project manager, an accounts-receivable contact, a contract signer, the counties you serve, your languages, your planned enrollments per year and your outreach numbers.
